Gamers are in for an exciting month come February 2026. After a slow start to the year, we finally get a wave of major titles across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch (and Switch 2), and PC. From epic JRPG remakes, to action-packed adventures and terrifying horror experiences, there’s something for nearly everyone.

The following list ranks the 15 most anticipated games according to hype, trailers and fan potential, as well as pre-order interest. We include release dates, platforms, quick descriptions and why each game is noteworthy. Dates and details are based on official announcements as well as good, credible calendars up through late January 2026 — always double check as you draw closer to launch time in case there are any changes.

How I chose these games

For this report, I looked at game trailers, short developer announcements and gamer comments on social media. I also checked several release calendars to see which games people talk about the most and which titles already have a lot of attention. I did not choose only big studios. I also added smaller and more mysterious games, because sometimes they become the biggest surprises of the year.

1. Resident Evil Requiem (Late February – Exact Date TBA, Likely Late Month)

The first and probably the most famous game on the list is Resident Evil Requiem, which should come out at the end of February. It is the next big horror game in the Resident Evil series after Village. The game will have new characters, new scary creatures and a new story that is very important for the whole series. It is being made with Capcom’s modern engine, so it looks very realistic and polished. Many players are excited because Resident Evil games are always scary, full of puzzles and have strong stories. If you like horror games with zombies and dark locations, this one is very easy to recommend.

2. Nioh 3 (February 6)

The second game is Nioh 3, coming on February 6. It is a fast and difficult action game about samurai, demons and historical battles. Players fight strong enemies, collect equipment and learn how to survive very hard boss fights. The first two Nioh games were known for being challenging but very rewarding, so many fans are waiting for the third part and hope it will become one of the best hard action games of the year.

Why we want this game? Challenge and depth were the hallmarks of the first two games — which developed a dedicated following. This one could be one of the best Soulslikes of the year.

3. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined (February 5)

Next is Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, which will be released on February 5. This is a remake of a very famous Japanese role-playing game. The story is about traveling through time, helping different worlds and saving people. The new version has better graphics and small improvements that make the game easier and more comfortable to play. Fans love Dragon Quest because the characters are friendly and memorable, and the world feels big and warm. Even though the game is old, the new version makes it feel fresh again.

5. Norse: Oath of Blood (February 3)

They fight enemies, travel across the land and build their own settlement. The game mixes action, exploration and base building. 7. High on Life 2 (Mid-February, Around February 13)

High on Life 2 is scheduled for release in mid February, approximately the 13th of February. It’s a wacky first-person shooter where your weapons talk to you, and they never stop being funny. You go to weird alien planets and fight weird aliens. The first game was a hit largely because of its silliness and originality, so players will be hoping for more laughs and improved shooting mechanics from the sequel.

8. Starsand Island (February 1)

The last game on the list is Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – Arcade Edition, which will be released on February 5 for Apple Arcade. This is a simplified and mobile-friendly version of the famous strategy game. Players build cities, research technologies and grow their civilizations through different historical eras. In my book, February 2026 is one of the best months to be a gamer since you can play scary games, comfy games, action games and narrative heavy games at once. I’d say my favorite on this list is Resident Evil Requiem – love horror games and stories that keep me on edge, so this one should see a lot of buzz in May.
