Meet the Flock Behind PinkCrow Gaming Excellence

PinkCrow is a personal blog about video games. Not a studio, not a consultancy, not a content farm. The goal is simple: to write about games with enough care that someone else might find it useful, surprising, or at least honest.
Most writing about games falls into two traps. Either it chases the news cycle and becomes obsolete in 48 hours, or it treats games as interchangeable products to be scored and ranked. This blog tries to do something slower. It looks at how games work, why they fail, what they mean, and which ones are worth your time six months after release when the hype has cooled.

How we think about games

P

A game is not just code, art, and a price tag. It is a contract with the player. The best games understand what they are asking for your time, your attention, your patience, your money, and they pay it back with something that feels fair, meaningful, or at least interesting.

How we test Games

Every game written about here is played with a few consistent questions in mind. These are not a formal rubric, but they are a useful lens.

The loop test

What is the core interaction, and does it hold up? A roguelike lives or dies on whether the next run still feels tempting. An RPG lives or dies on whether the next conversation matters. If the loop collapses after a few hours, the game has a structural problem no amount of polish can fix.

The friction test

Some friction is intentional. Dark Souls wants you to feel the weight of commitment. A puzzle game wants you to sit with confusion. But accidental friction — bad menus, unclear objectives, tedious travel — is just waste. The question is whether the friction serves the experience or obstructs it.

The intention test

Does the game know what it wants to be? A horror game that explains too much is not confident. A narrative game where choices do not matter is not honest. The best games have a clear point of view and the discipline to follow it.

The memory test

A week after finishing, what sticks? A great moment? A clever system? Or just a vague sense of time spent? The games worth writing about are the ones that leave something behind.

Why Choose Us?

What gets covered

The focus is on games that do something interesting with their design, their story, or their place in the culture. That includes:

  • Indie games that take real risks, even when they do not fully land
  • Major releases examined with enough distance to see them clearly
  • Older games revisited to see how they hold up
  • Genres in transition — roguelikes, immersive sims, cozy games, and whatever comes next
  • Design patterns: what works, what is exhausted, and what is being reinvented

Join Us in Creating Gaming Magic

We have spent enough time with games to know that loving them means being honest about their flaws. I have also spent enough time building things to know how hard it is to make something good. This blog sits in that space between player and maker: critical without being cruel, enthusiastic without being naive.
If something here resonates, disagree with it, share it, or send a note. The best writing about games is a conversation, not a broadcast.
